Prometheus Gas is the Greek-Russian joint venture with OAO Gazprom, based in Greece. Gazprom, through its 100%
subsidiary Gazpromexport, controls 50% of the company’s equity.
The other 50% is controlled by: Dimitrios Ch. Copelouzos.
The objective of Prometheus Gas
is mainly to market Russian natural gas in Greece, as well as build the necessary infrastructure for natural gas use in regional energy markets.
A constantly increasing demand
for natural gas along with market deregulation have created favorable conditions for further growth of
the company.
In its efforts to develop
the natural gas market in Greece, the company has secured, from Gazprom, quantities of natural gas for a 50 year period.
The company manages reserves for over 3 billion cubic meters annually, which are expected to increase to 7 billion cubic meters annually, after 2016. With a strong, 15 year
presence in the region, Prometheus Gas is currently one of the most efficient and strategically positioned partners in Gazprom’s international corporate planning.
